GOD IS NOT MOCKED

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” — Galatians 6:7 (KJV)

Listen to what is being said in America today. Look at what our government permits, what our society celebrates, and what we are teaching our children. Then ask yourself one question: How long can a nation reject the covenant our forefathers made with Almighty God, turn its back on His commandments, and still expect to escape the consequences of breaking that covenant? God has already answered. Whatever a man sows, he will reap. We may choose what we plant, but we cannot escape what those seeds will produce.

Our forefathers understood something America has largely forgotten. They believed a nation was accountable to Almighty God. They entered into a solemn covenant with Him, binding themselves and the generations that would follow to honor His authority and obey His commandments. That covenant was not intended to end with their deaths or disappear when future generations chose to reject it. Yet America increasingly turns its back on those commitments while expecting to continue receiving God’s blessings. We have inherited a sacred responsibility, but instead of honoring it, we are allowing the values upon which our nation was established to be replaced.

Consider the contradictions we now accept. Unborn children can be killed through abortion, while California Governor Gavin Newsom maintains a moratorium on executions for convicted murderers. His decision spares those sentenced to death, while victims’ families are left questioning where their justice is. Children are being told they can change the sex God gave them, and medical interventions intended to alter their developing bodies are defended as personal freedom. The prophet Isaiah warned about people who would call evil good and good evil, exchanging darkness for light. We have reached a point where the laws of man are treated as though they can overrule the commandments of God. But making something legal does not make it righteous.

This change in values reaches beyond these moral questions into how Americans understand responsibility. More people look toward government to provide housing, healthcare, education, and financial security. Scripture teaches us to care for those genuinely in need, but it also teaches the importance of work, sacrifice, and providing for our families. When people begin believing that government owes them everything, they risk surrendering the independence that earlier generations worked so hard to preserve. Freedom was never intended to mean living without responsibility.

I grew up in an America where a man’s word meant something, where families worked together, and where children were taught respect for their parents and others. Owning a home required saving, sacrifice, and sometimes years of doing without. Was that America perfect? Absolutely not. Evil existed then, just as it does today. But we understood that there were moral boundaries, even when people failed to live within them. Today, those boundaries are increasingly being removed, and another generation is growing up without the same understanding of right and wrong.

Will America ever return to the country I remember? No, we will not. What we are witnessing is not simply a change in politics or culture. It is a spiritual transformation that Scripture warned would come. The Apostle Paul described the last days as perilous times when people would become lovers of themselves, disobedient to parents, unthankful, without natural affection, and lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. These characteristics reveal a society where personal desires have become more important than obedience, and where people increasingly reject any authority greater than themselves.

What will such a society produce? Families will become divided, children will grow up without moral direction, and respect for authority will continue to disappear. Trust between neighbors will weaken as selfishness replaces sacrifice. Communities that once depended upon shared values will struggle to remain united. The consequences will not be confined to those who made these choices. Our children and grandchildren will inherit the conditions we have created, and they will face hardships that earlier generations never imagined.

Romans chapter 1 describes an even more frightening consequence. When people refused to acknowledge God, He gave them over to the desires they insisted upon following. Consider what that means. Judgment does not always begin with fire falling from heaven. Sometimes it begins when God allows people to continue down the destructive road they have chosen. They believe they are gaining freedom while becoming enslaved to the very things destroying them. By the time they recognize what has happened, the damage may already be beyond their ability to repair.

But Scripture warns that these conditions are only part of what lies ahead. Jesus spoke of deception, wars, famine, suffering, and a world where love grows cold because wickedness increases. He described these troubles as the beginning of sorrows, pointing toward a period of extraordinary tribulation before His return. The Bible does not promise that mankind will eventually overcome evil through education, political power, or economic prosperity. Instead, it warns that human rebellion will increase and that a time of judgment will come upon the world.

America is not identified by name in these prophecies, and no one can tell us exactly how its future will unfold. But we can see how the conditions described in Scripture could prepare a society for what is coming. A people who no longer recognize absolute truth become vulnerable to deception. A population that depends increasingly upon powerful institutions becomes more willing to surrender personal freedom in exchange for promised security. A nation divided against itself becomes less capable of resisting those who would exercise greater control over its people.

So where does that leave America? The nation our forefathers established is changing into something they would scarcely recognize. The covenant they entered into with Almighty God has not lost its meaning simply because succeeding generations refuse to acknowledge it. What lies ahead will not be determined by our wishes or our memories of better days. The decisions being made today are shaping the world our descendants will inherit, and the warnings of Scripture give us every reason to be concerned about that future.

America is approaching a harvest that generations have helped plant. The question is no longer whether we can recover the country we once knew, but whether we will recognize the seriousness of our rebellion before its consequences are fully revealed. God has given mankind His Word, His commandments, and His warnings. We have been told what disobedience produces and what lies ahead when wickedness increases. We cannot claim we were never warned. God is not mocked, and America will reap what it has sown.

End of Mike’s devotion. This below is from me (Carol) to encourage and reassure.

“Those who HOPE IN ME will not be disappointed…I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save….What I have said, THAT I will bring about; what I have planned, THAT I will do. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. My purpose WILL STAND, and I WILL DO all that I please. Listen to ME, my people…MY justice will become a light to the nations. MY righteousness draws near speedily, MY salvation is on the way, and MY arm will bring justice to the nations.”   (portions of Isaiah)
